About the artist4
Elas aastatel 1925-1995. Luuletaja Helvi Jürissoni abikaasa. Lõpetas 1941 Pärnu kaubanduskeskkooli. Oli 1943-1944 mobiliseeritud Saksa sõjaväkke. Astus 1946 Tallinna Riiklikku Tarbekunsti Instituuti, lõpetas ERKI 1951. Seejärel tegutses vabakunstnikuna. Alates 1961 ERKI õppejõud (al. 1979 dotsent, al. 1987 professor) ning aastast 1994 emeriitprofessor. Aastast 1951 Eesti Kunstnike Liidu liige. Olev Soans isiksusena oli fenomenaalne ja seda liialdusteta. Ta järgis ideed, et kunstil ja teadusel on palju rohkem ühist, kui on tavaks arvata. Ka temas endas olid ühel ajal peidus nii kunstnik kui ka teadlane. Toetudes senisele teadmistepagasile ning seda edasi täiendades oskas ta selle ühendada oma kunstnikuandega.
