About the artist4
Abel Lee sündis 1918.a. Jõhvis. Ta arendas oma andi Tallinna Kunsti Akadeemias. Pärast Rootsis ja Soomes elamist emigreerus Lee Kanadasse 1951. a. Lee impressionistlik abstraktne graafiline kunst jälgib sümbolismi, kuju ja värvi. Ta kunsti teemad on peamiselt inimloomus. Lee töötas graafika kunstnikuna Ontario valitsusele Kanadas. KOGUD: Suurbritannias, Eestis. NÄITUSED: Eestis, Rootsis, USAs ja Kanadas. AUHINNAD: Ontario provintsi Pühendunud teenistus tahvel, 1983.a. Esimene auhind Eesti Kunstnikke Koondis Torontos 35.a. juubelnäitusel, 1990.a. FILMID-DVD’d: Lee kohta tehti 60. minutiline film 1977.a. nimega “Loo Abel Leega” (film). “Tuhande ilmega Abel Lee”, rezhisöör Vaado Sarapuu, Eesti Kunstide Keskus, 2002 (DVD). MUU TEGEVUS: Eesti Kunstnikke Koondis Torontos asutajaliige ja esimene president, 1956-57.a., praegu auliige. Colour and Form Society [Värvi ja kuju koondis](Toronto, 1952) asutaja liige ja endine president. On eluaegne auliige. Eesti Kunstide Keskuse asutajaliige ja siiani juhatuse liige. Lee on vastutav EKK kunstikogu eest. Samuti juhib ta EKK Kultuuri Fondi Komitee tegevust. Lee oli Eesti Kunstide Keskuse Fine Art laureaat 1978. a.
