About the artist4
A. Pilar sündis Sevastoopolis Musta mere laevastiku ohvitseri perekonnas. Kunstihuvi sai alguse 17-aastaselt, mõned aastad õppis A. Kaigorodovi maalistuudios ning 1938-1941 Riigi Kunsttööstuskoolis. 1942-1944 viibis koos teiste kunstnikega Jaroslavis. Akvarelliga katsetas Pilar tõsisemalt 1944. aastal, see võlus kunstniku enda sõnul teda “niivõrd, et tõrjus kõik muu tahaplaanile ja kujunes tõeliseks kutsumuseks. Näitustel esines A. Pilar 1944 a-st, tema esimene isikunäitus oli 1947.
