Gita Teearu on sündinud 1934. aastal Sindis. 1956. aastal alustas ta õpinguid ERKI-s ning lõpetas selle 1962. aastal. Teearu on tegutsenud vabakunstnikuna Tallinnas. Alates 1973. aastast Kunstnike Liidu liige ning osalenud näitustel alates 1961. aastast.
