About the artist4
Kunstiharidust sai 1920. aastail A. Laikmaa ateljeekoolis, 1934 - 38 õppis "Pallases" N. Triigi juhendamisel. Käis 1939.a. täiendusreisil Pariisis. Aastast 1938 kunstiühingu "Pallas" liige. 1944 -.45 Tartu Riikliku Kunstiinstituudi direktor, 1947 - 48 Tallinnas Kunstifondi esimees. P. Aavik on maalinud suuri figuraalkompositsioone, kuid paeluvamalt avaldub tema maalijatalent just etüüdides, maastikes ja mariinides.
